Pentecost is an exciting time of the year!  Its when we celebrate the birth of the church.  We celebrate the Holy Spirit, who brings new life and hope.   On this day, the special color is RED.  Red symbolizes the flames of the Holy Spirit as God poured out his spirit on the apostles.  The event occurred several weeks after Christ’s resurrection while the disciples were meeting in a home.  Suddenly, there was a sound of rushing wind and tongues of fire rested on each head.  The apostles were now ready to witness with boldness and power as they proclaimed the good news!

On this day, we receive a special offering to celebrate the church’s birthday.   This offering is collected by Presbyterian churches everywhere and the offering provides a direct way to meet the needs of children at risk, youth, and young adults.  Forty percent of the offering will stay in our church to be used locally for children at risk.  Fifty percent supports ministries with youth and young adults.  With the last ten percent supporting child-centered programs.

and celebrate the birthday of the church.
